Portoroz is an urban village on the north coast of the Bay of Piran in Piran municipality. Evolved in the leeward position below the steep ridge of flysch. The port is protected from bora. Portoroz is a touristic place with hotels, a marina, in the vicinity are Secovelje pans and small international airport. In Portoroz there is High School for Maritime Studies, College for Maritime Studies and Transport and from 1995 College of Hotelism and Tourism.
